Mukhopadhyay, Rajib Lochon

Mukhopadhyay, Rajib Lochon pandit at the Department of Bangla, fort william college, and prose writer, was born in Kharadaha village of Hughli district, west bengal. His only work Krishnachandrarayasya Charitrang (1805), narrating the life and greatness of Maharaja Krishnachandra of Burdwan, is historically significant as an example of early Bangla prose and as one of the earliest biographies in Bengal. william carey inspired him to write the biography and, on his recommendation, Rajib Lochan received an honorarium of one hundred rupees from the Fort William College Council.
