Shah Muhammad Sagir

Shah Muhammad Sagir is believed to have been a man of the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. His yusuf-zulekha has commendatory verses for Gauda King ghiyasuddin azam shah (1389-1410). It indicates that he was perhaps the court poet of Azam Shah and wrote the volume at his request. Although it has praise for the parents and teachers of the poet, it does not mention their names or residence. Muhammad Sagir is considered to be the first writer to introduce Perso-Arabic languages in Bangla. [Wakil Ahmed]
