Jabbar, Sheikh Abdul (1881-1918) litterateur and social worker, was born in gaffargaon upazila, mymensingh. He was largely self-taught, except for a brief period at Syedgaon Madrasah in kishoreganj.

Abdul Jabbar wrote on Islamic history and culture. His book, Hazrater J'i'ban'i' O Dev'i' Rabeya, was included in the Intermediate syllabus of Calcutta University. Some of his other notable books are Makka Sharifer Itih'a's (1906), Madina Sharifer Itihas (1907), Islam'i' Sa'b'g'i't (1908), A'darsha Rama'ni (2 vols 1909, 1912), Jerusalem Ba Baitul Makaddaser Itihas (1910), Nabag'a'th'a (poetry, 1912) N'u'rj'a'h'a'n (1913). He wrote some textbooks such as Shishu Sop'a'n, S'a'hitya Sopan, A'darsha Sahitya. He published a monthly magazine, Islam 'A'bh'a.
