Tarkavagish, Annadacharan
Tarkavagish, Annadacharan (1875-1943) Sanskrit scholar, versed in nyaya. He was born in the village of Mulgaon, in the Idilpur Pargana of faridpur. His Father Prasannachandra Vattacharya was a Sanskrit scholar. Annadacharan studied the various shastras under famous scholars of Faridpur, Benares, Burdwan, and Nabadwip. He was conferred the title of 'Vyakaranatirtha' in the Upadhi Examination of Kalapa, the title of 'Tarkaratna' by bangabibudhajanani sabha of Nabadwip, and that of 'Tarkavagish' from Benares. After studying Sangkhya and Vedanta with Mahamahopadhyay Subrahmanya Shastri, he established a Sanskrit college at Bangalitola in Benares, where he taught from 1896 to 1907. Afterwards, he established another Sanskrit college in his own village. He was the life-long Secretary of Idilpur Hitaisini Sabha from 1918. He wrote Prabha, a commentary on Vyaptivadanyaya's Vyadhikarana and Vyaptyanugama. He died on 19 October in 1943. [Satyanarayan Chakraborty]
