Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University

Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University a public university founded under the Act 18 of 2006 at village Battola of Trishal in Mymensing district. kazi nazrul islam lived in this village for some time during his wandering early life. From 1 June 2007 the university started its academic activities.

The university has 4 faculties: Arts, Social Science, Science and Engineering and Business Administration. Under these faculties, there are 12 departments, such as Accounting and Information System, Finance and Banking, Human Resources Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Economics, Public Administration, Music, Fine Arts, Dramatic Arts, Bengali and English.

The President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the Chancellor of the university. The syndicate of the university is the apex decision-making body. The Senate formulates all statutes and amendments. Moreover, it approves annual budget, conducts overall review of educational programmes and selects panel for the appointment of the Vice Chancellor. There are twelve members in the syndicate including the Vice-Chancellor. Besides, Academic Committee, Finance Committee and Planning and Development Committee are related to the management function of the university. The Students' Welfare Center looks after the interest of the student.

Currently, there are 1933 students and 54 teachers for the university. There are 2 residential halls for students, one for male and another for female students. These are Agnibina Hall and Dolan Chapa Hall. There are two residential buildings for the teachers and the officers. [Md Ashik Iqbal]
