Rahman, Ataur
Rahman, Ataur (1925-1999) poet and literary critic, was born in the district of bogra. He obtained his MA from Dhaka University. Though he did not actively participate in politics, he was attracted to leftist ideas.
His poems reflect his socialistic concerns. Among his poetical works are Dui Rtu (1956), Ekdin Pratidin (1963), Nisad Nagare Achhi (1977), Bhalobasa Chirashatru (1981), Idaning Rabgamavcha (1992), Sarata Jiban Dhare (1994), Bhalobasa O Tarpar. His principal critical writings are on kazi nazrul islam: Kavi Nazrul (1968), Nazrul Kavya Samiksa (1972), Nazrul Jibane Prem O Bibaha (1997). He also wrote about modern bangla literature in Adhunik Bangla Sahityer Sangksipta Itihas (1963).
In recognition of his literary achievements, he was awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award (1970), Sher-e-Bangla National Award, Nazrul Memorial Prize (1985), Hilali Memorial Prize (1987), etc. [Wakil Ahmed]
