Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital
Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital is a public medical college, located at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. The government decided to upgrade Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital to Medical College on 5 September, 2005, which, in fact, has started its academic functions since 6 May, 2006. Initially it started its operations by the name of Begum Khaleda Zia Medical College. Later, on 1 June in 2009, its name was changed by Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College with 100 students. Now 900 students are studying there under six batches.
In 1963, it was established by the name of 'Ayub Central Hospital' at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar occupied by 19 acres of land. Everyday almost 970 patients are offered outdoor medical services in this hospital. The Inter-departmental facilities include: medicine, ocular, surgery, ear-throat and nose disease, child health disorder, skin disease, genecology, physiotherapy and dentistry department. This hospital offers pathological and radiological facilities to diagnose various diseases. One hundred fifty paying and two hundred non-paying beds are available in this hospital.
