'Akram, Justice ASM' jurist, acting Governor of East Bengal. Abu Sahel Mohammad Akram joined the Bengal Judicial Service as a judge in the lower court on 10 April 1937. He was elevated to additional judge in the Calcutta High Court on 5 May 1941 and was appointed Puisny Judge on 6 December 1943. After the partition of India, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Dhaka High Court on 15 August 1947.

Justice Akram was the acting governor of East Bengal from 16 March to 25 April 1949 during the leave period of Governor Sir Frederick Chalmers Bourne, the first governor of the province of East Bengal after the partition of India.
