Alauddin Jani (1230-1232) governor of Bengal under Delhi Sultan iltutmish. Alauddin Jani got the Bengal assignment in 1231. He was a Shahjadah (Prince) of Turkistan. Being unable to face the terror of the Mongols, he fled to India and took service under Iltutmish in Delhi. He possessed princely qualities and was conscious of his high lineage. He remained faithful to Iltutmish. Alauddin Jani paid attention to the subjugation and administration of the country. He ruled Bengal for a period of one year and a few months.
