Shaykh Muhammad meticulously drew in European watercolour style abandoning the Mughal ''qalam'' of gouache technique. His colourful paintings in European style reflect European realism, perspective and knowledge of anatomy. Some of his paintings are now preserved in the India Office Library, London.
