Bangladesh Society for Parasitology a learned body established in 1983 with its office at the Department of Animal Parasitology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. The principal objectives of the society as laid out in the constitution include patronising the advancement of knowledge in the field of parasitology; maintaining liaison and cooperation with other national and international societies related to parasitology; publishing scientific journal and other communiques for dissemination of research findings in relevant fields; maintaining a scientific collection with proper cataloguing of the parasites of Bangladesh; and organising seminars, workshops, symposia, conference and meetings on various aspects of animal parasites and parasitic diseases.

A 19 member Executive Council manages the society with a president, two vice-presidents, a treasurer, a secretary general, and other office bearers. The society has now nearly 150 general members. Any science graduate is eligible to become a member of the society. The society publishes a biannual journal titled Bangladesh Journal of Parasitology. [SM Humayun Kabir]
