Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha is a welfare organisation of dance artistes established in 1978. Its founder president was gazi alauddin mannan and general secretary Altamas Ahmed. The main aims of the organisation are to work for the welfare of dance artistes and foster unity among them, as well as to secure their legitimate rights. Its other objectives are to elevate the standard of dancing and arrange regular performances. It believes that dance not only provides entertainment, it also speaks about the life, society, and culture of the country and its people, and that the liberation war and the country';s history and tradition can be presented through it.
