Dharmasagar a large pond or dighi located in Comilla town with an area of 9.38 hectare. Maharaj Dharmamanikya of Tripura (1714-1732) dug this dighi to make water available to the local people. Initially, there was an island at the middle of the dighi. Comilla Stadium and Comilla Zila School are now located on the eastern bank of the dighi. On the other hand, Comilla Municipal Park, Rani Kutir and kazi nazrul islam memorial hall are on the north and Rajdevi Maternity and a Childcare Centre are situated on the southeast of Dharmasagar. These historical marks made this dighi an attractive tourist spot. Migratory birds usually visit the spot during winter. [Md Tuhin Molla]
