Jaunpuri, Abdur Rab (1875-1935) Islamic scholar. Son of Hafiz Mahmud and grandson of Maulana karamat ali jaunpuri, he was born in the Mollatola locality of Jaunpur in 1875. He lost his father at the age of five and was brought up by his paternal uncle Hafiz Ahmad. He memorised the holy quran at a very early age.

With a scholarly grasp of Arabic and Persian languages and deep insight in Islamic studies, Abdur Rab turned Daulatkhan under Bhola into a major centre of Islamic ways of life and humanitarian activities. He established a gruel-kitchen where hundreds of needy people had their meal everyday. He conducted philanthropic activities throughout Bangladesh from 1899 to 1935. He died at Jaunpur in June 1935.
