Jaydev Mishra

Jaydev Mishra (15th century) logician and Sanskrit pundit, also known as Pakshadhar Misra, was born at Mithila, Bihar. Jaidev's premier work, Manyaloka, is a renowned discourse on navyanyaya (modern logic). Based on this book numerous commentaries on modern logic were prepared for the following two hundred years. Under its influence a separate and vital stream of modern logic developed in different provinces of India including Mithila. His other works include Alok (3 volumes) and commentaries on Dravyaprakasha by Bardhamanopadhyay and Lilavativiveka, a commentary on Lilavatiprakasha, Prataksakhanda and Anumankhanda.
