Jaydev Mishra (15th century) logician and Sanskrit pundit, also known as Pakshadhar Misra, was born at Mithila, Bihar. Jaidev';s premier work, Ma'n'y'a'loka, is a renowned discourse on navyany'a'ya (modern logic). Based on this book numerous commentaries on modern logic were prepared for the following two hundred years. Under its influence a separate and vital stream of modern logic developed in different provinces of India including Mithila. His other works include A'lok (3 volumes) and commentaries on Dravyaprak'a'sha by Bardhamanopadhyay and L'i'l'a'vat'i'viveka, a commentary on L'i'l'a'vat'i'prak'a'sha, Prataksakha'n'da and Anum'a'nkha'n'da.
