Khan, Asaduzzaman (1916-1992) politician. Asaduzzaman Khan was born in Kishoreganj district in 1916. Having obtained his MA in History and BL degree from Dhaka University he joined Bengal Civil Service in 1941, served in the judicial service as Munseef for six years since 1945, and then resigned from government service. He worked as a part time Lecturer in the Department of Law at Dhaka University in addition to his practice as a lawyer in the High Court.

Asaduzzaman was elected a member of the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly in 1965 as an independent candidate under the basic democracies system. Asaduzzaman Khan was elected leader of the opposition parliamentary party in the Provincial Assembly in 1967. He joined awami league in 1969. He was elected a member of the National Assembly from Mymensingh in 1970. He took active part in the war of liberation and was a member of the committee for drafting the Constitution of Bangladesh. He was elected a member of the Jatiya Sangsad in 1973 and in 1979. He was the Jute Minister in the cabinet of bangabandhu sheikh mujibur rahman in 1975, and also the Minister in charge of Ministry of Port, Navigation and Inland Water Transport in the cabinet of khondakar mostaq ahmad. He was elected leader of the parliamentary party of Awami League in 1979, and was the leader of the opposition parliamentary party till March 1982. He died in Dhaka on 21 January 1992.
