Mainamati Mound 1A situated near the Mainamati bus stop north of the Dhaka - Chittagong highway. Limited excavations carried out here have revealed six long walls, straight roads and crossroads, gateways and other scanty remains. The remains here indicate that there were ten rectangular blocks, five containing major structures and five open courtyards, together with an elaborate gateway complex (13.9m ' 9.8m). The remains seem to be secular in nature. [M Harunur Rashid]
