Shah Jalal Dakhini (R) Sufi saint (15th century). Shah Jalal Dakhini came to Eastern Bengal from Gujrat with some disciples during the reign of Sultan shamsuddin yusuf shah (1474-81). Probably people called him Dakhini as he came from the Deccan side. He was a disciple of Shaikh Piara.

Dakhini established his Kh'a'nq'a'h at Matijheel in Dhaka and began his missionary activities. Reputed as an honest and straightforward person, his influence upon the people was comparable to that of a king. The sultan of gaur killed him together with some of his companions in 881 AH/1476 AD. He lies buried in a single-domed tomb within the compound of the Bangabhavan. [Mosharraf Hussain Bhuiyan] [Bhuiyan, Mosharraf Hussain Professor of Islamic History and Culture, Dhaka University]
