Dermatosis

Dermatosis is a term used to cover any disease of the skin. Skin diseases are common in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Dermatological Society reports that among patients attending hospitals, about 30 percent suffer from some form of skin diseases. dhaka medical college and hospital sources reveal that common dermatoses are scabies, eczema, skin rash, tinea, pyoderma, acne, warts, herpes, psoriasis, skin tuberculosis, leprosy, scleroderma, etc. Less common are exfoliative dermatitis, molluscum contagiosum, alopecia areata, epidermal cysts, leucoplakia, and melanoma. Dermatosis is more common in rural areas among children under ten. Illiteracy, malnutrition, and unhygienic living conditions are principal factors involved. [Md Shahidullah]
