Abdul Momen Khan

Khan, Abdul Momen (1919-1984) educationist, bureaucrat, politician. Momen Khan was born in Dhaka in 1919. His father was Abdul Bari Khan. He obtained MA degree from Dhaka University in 1941. He joined Calcutta Government Commercial College as a teacher in 1942. In 1954 he joined the Pakistan Civil Service. In his service career, he had been the secretary of the Ministry of Public Works, Food and Civil Supplies and of the Parliament Secretariat. He retired from service as secretary of the Cabinet Division.

In his student life, Abdul Momen Khan was the president of Dhaka District Muslim Student League, first speaker of the Fazlul Huq Hall Student Union and was a member of the executive committee of Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU). He was the patron of Bangladesh National Weavers League. He was a member of the central convening committee of the newly formed National Democratic Party and later a member of the executive committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He was a member of the Advisory Council of the President in July 1977 in charge of the Ministry of Food.

Between 29 June 1978 and 15 April 1979, Abdul Momen Khan was a member of the cabinet in charge of the Ministry of Food. He was elected a member of the Jatiya Sangsad in 1979 as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Abdul Momen Khan was the Minister of the Government of Bangladesh from 15 April 1979 to 27 November 1981.
