Technology

Technology is the most influential phenomenon that changes the world. The word 'Technology' derives from the Greek words 'techne' and 'logos'. Techne means art or the method or technique by which something is acquired. The speech, or utterance, through which inner thinking is expressed is called logos. Therefore, technology refers to statements or conversations concerning how things are acquired. The term was first used by the Greek philosopher Aristotle, who divided scientific knowledge into three categories: productive, theoretical, and practical science. Scholars typically prefer to describe technology as an applied science rather than the wide literal definition, which dates back to the early nineteenth century and is the first documented use of the term.

Technology is concerned with the technical processes, methods, or procedures for creating means to transform matter, energy, and information to achieve specific valued ends, also known as technological objects. Pens, satellite systems, and even software we use daily are examples of technological objects. Technology includes the knowledge that enables the technical process. Knowledge is made up of the facts and procedures required to manipulate matter, energy, and information, as well as how to find new ways to do so.

Technology comes with both pros and cons. For example, technology may isolate us from the natural environment and be out of human control. On the contrary, technology helps us to avail a better life and provides solutions to the problem faced by society and human beings. Further, technology binds the community together and makes the natural environment more understandable. And so, we can argue that the positive effects of technology far outweigh the harmful effects.
