His father gave him the name &amp;#039;Narendranath Dhar&amp;#039;; first and renamed &amp;#039;Baroda Brahmachari&amp;#039;; after being invested with the sacred thread. After becoming an ascetic, he took the name &amp;#039;Swami Nirvanananda Saraswati&amp;#039;;. He assumed the name Anirvan after moving to a Himalayan forest to meditate. &lt;br /&gt;

Narendra passed the Entrance Examination from Mymensingh City School and IA and BA from Dhaka. He completed his MA in the Vedas and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Mimangsa Shastras&amp;#039;&amp;#039; from Sanskrit College, Kolkata. He also studied Buddhism while staying at Benares and Sarnath. He was a linguist and proficient in several languages, including French.&lt;br /&gt;

From 1918-30, Anirvan served as the director of Swami Nigamananda Paramahansa&amp;#039;;s Kokilamukh Assam-Bangiya Saraswat Monastery, acharya of the saint&amp;#039;;s school, and editor of the monthly magazine &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Aryyadarpan&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. He wrote a number of books to propagate the Hindu religion and moral education, including &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Shiksa&amp;#039;&amp;#039;,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Pravachan&amp;#039;&amp;#039;,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Gitanuvachan&amp;#039;&amp;#039;,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Vedanta Jijnasa&amp;#039;&amp;#039;,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Vedamimangsa&amp;#039;&amp;#039;,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; &amp;#039;&amp;#039;and&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Upanisat Prasanga&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.
