Several streams originating from the highland of the Tract north of[[Madhupur Tract| madhupur]] and [[Phulbari Upazila (Dinajpur District)|phulbari]] upazilas join at the southeast of [[Trishal Upazila|trishal]] to form the Banar. Flowing south the river bifurcates into two, the eastern arm flows into the [[Old Brahmaputra River|old brahmaputra]] and the southeastern arm falls into the [[Shitalakshya River|shitalakshya]].
