	Kumudinikanta started his career as a lecturer of Physics at Presidency College in 1887. The same year he was transferred to Rajshahi College to join in the vacant post of P Brill. Later he was promoted to a Professor and in 1898 he became the Principal of the college. Kumudinikanta had served as the Principal of the college for long 26 years and retired in 1924. During his tenure as the Principal of the college, lots of development works were carried out and a number of new buildings were erected. Sanskrit College was established in 1904 with his co-operation, direct supervision and direction, along'' ''with the financial support from Maharani Hemantakumari. In recognition to his contribution in Education, British government honoured him with the title of ''Rai Bahadur''. Rai Bahadur Kumudinikanta died in Kolkata on 17 January 1925.
