These activities have generated employment for more than 5 million people. Cocoon production has increased to more than one million kg. A number of NGOs are now involved in the sericulture programme and have used it to generate employment for the rural poor. Many silk factories have been established in different places of the country with the support of BSB; and more than 11,000 people have got training in sericulture under the programmes of BSB.
