But in the Mughal period, [[akbar]] first systematised the rank and position of the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;faujd&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;a&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;r&amp;#039;&amp;#039; as a provincial officer. The system continued till the end of the Mughal period.
