&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Hare, Sir Lancelot&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1851-1922)  the last Lieutenant Governor of the newly created province of Eastern Bengal and Assam from 1906 to 1911. Born on 7 January 1851 in London and educated at City of London School, Lancelot Hare joined the Indian Civil Service for Bengal in 1873.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As a civilian he served in many Bengal districts and finally was elevated to the Governor General’s Council as a member (1905-06). On the resignation of bamfylde fulle(20 August 1906) in the face of strong opposition of the anti-partionists, Hare was appointed the Lieutenant Governor of the province of Eastern Bengal and Assam. In this capacity he served until the end of 1911 when the [[Partition of Bengal, 1947|partition of bengal]] was annulled. In appreciation of his meritorious services as a civilian, Hare was decorated with CIE (1900), CSI (1906) and KCSI (1907).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Sir Lancelot Hare died on 7 October 1922. A thoroughfare in the city of Dhaka, Hare Street, was named by the Dhaka Municipality in memory of his commendable services to the people of Eastern Bengal. [Sirajul Islam]&lt;br /&gt;
