It is not known when he gained control of the pargana but his name is mentioned in [[Baharistan-i-Ghaibi|baharistan-i-ghaibi]] as an ally of [[Musa Khan|musa khan]] against the Mughals. He was one of the three zamindars who wrested the jaigir of Chatmohar from Ihtimam Khan, a naval general of [[Islam Khan Chisti|islam khan]]. Madhab Roy is also remembered as one of the three commanders assigned with the responsibility of defending the Jatrapur Fort against the advancing Mughal army under Islam Khan.
