'''Sahitya Patrika''' a research journal published by the Bangla Department of the [[University of Dhaka|university of dhaka]]. It was first published in the month of Asadh, 1364 BS (1957). Basically, it publishes research articles on [[Bangla Language|bangla language]] and literature as well as on the literary history and culture of the country. muhammad abdul hai was the founder-editor of the journal and edited it for twelve years. Upto 1390 BS (1983) Sahitya Patrika was published twice a year, as winter and monsoon editions. Since 1391 BS (1984) it is being published thrice a year as Asadh, Kartik and Falgun editions.

Even since its first appearance, the journal has attracted the attention of scholars and readers around the world cultivating Bangla. During the past 42 years, about 600 articles and 65 book reviews have appeared in the journal. The articles cover a wide range of topics: [[Bangla Literature|bangla literature]] of the ancient and medieval periods, modern Bangla [[Poetry|poetry]], modern Bangla prose, modern Bangla plays, comparative literary criticism, foreign literature, [[Folk Culture|folk culture]] and [[Folk Literature|folk literature]], theories of literature, rhythm and rhetoric, linguistics and phonetics, dictionary, script and manuscript, periodicals, music and painting, and religion.
