He had no formal schooling, but learned by himself Bangla, Arabic, and Persian. He was attracted to both Hindu and Muslim devotional songs such as [[kirtan]] and [[G]][[ari gan]]. He became a disciple of Hiraztullah and composed about three hundred songs in the sufi vein. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Sahe Iske S&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;a&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;dek&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;i&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Gouhar&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1890) is influenced by [[sufism]]. His son, Khandaker Rafiquddin, included some of Panju Shah&amp;#039;;s songs in his book &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Bh&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;a&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;vsa&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;b&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;g&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;i&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;t&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. Khandaker Reazul Huq also included more than two hundred of his songs in his book, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Maram&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;i&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Kavi P&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;av&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;ju Sh&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;a&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;h.&amp;#039;&amp;#039; Panju Shah was a humanist.
