Momin Talukdar was involved in politics from his student life. In 1949 he was elected general secretary of Pabna district unit of Purba Bangla Chhatra League. Between 1953 and 1956 he was the president of Chhatra League. He played a vital role in the language movement as the convenor of All Party State Language Movement of Dhaka University. Abdul Momin Talukdar was vice president of Pabna district Awami League. In 1970, he was elected a member of the Pakistan National Assembly as a nominee of the [[awami league]]. &lt;br /&gt;
