Ali, Mohammad Sadat
Ali, Mohammad Sadat (1942-1971) educationist, martyr intellectual. He was born on 28 January 1942 at village Rasulpur in sadar thana of Narsingdi district. His father was Mohammad Hazrat Ali. Sadat Ali passed Matriculation examination from Gazipur Gachha High School in 1958 and ICom in 1960 from Narsingdi College. He obtained BCom (Hons) degree from Dhaka University in 1963 and MCom in 1964.
At the beginning of his career Sadat Ali served as a Lecturer in Narsingdi College for some time. In 1968, he joined as a Lecturer in the Institute of Education and Research of Dhaka University. Under a government scholarship for higher research he went to USA and got himself admitted in the State College of Northern Cholorado University. From this University he obtained Doctorate of Education in 1969. After his return from USA Sadat Ali joined his post in the Institute of Education and Research. He was promoted to the post of Assistant Professor in 1969. Sadat Ali had been the chairman of the Department of Business Administration in Education and Research Institute from 1969 to 1971. He was the House Tutor of the then Jinnah Hall (present Masterda Surya Sen Hall) of Dhaka University.
On 26 April 1971, while coming out of his University residence Sadat Ali was arrested by the Pak army and was carried to an unknown place. Thereafter he could not be traced.
The Postal Department of Bangladesh Government issued commemorative postal stamp in the name of Mohammad Sadat Ali on the Martyred Intellectual Day on 14 December 1995. [Abu Md. Delwar Hossain]
