Sreekail College
Sreekail College founded in Sreekail village under muradnagar upazila of comilla district in 1941 by Captain Narendranath Dutta, a philanthropist who rose from poverty to one of the richest men in the region by dint of his labour and intelligence. This was the second A-grade college of the then (greater Comilla) Tippera district. The college started its journey with only 52 students. At the beginning the college had no girl students.
The performance of the students of the college in public examinations has been very good from the beginning. The college earned reputation when one of its students Arun Dutta, stood first in all Bengal Intermediate Examination in 1945. Every year several students appear in the upper merit list of the Higher Secondary examinations.
There are six thousand books and periodicals in the college library. The college laboratory is equipped with necessary apparatus. The students perform well in the inter-college games and sports. BNCC and Rover Scouting facilities are also available in the college. The college has a sound financial standing. Its sources of income include farming output from its 30 acres of land, shops at Sreekail Bazar, students' tuition fees, and government grant.
The college has a three-storied academic cum administrative building, a two-storied academic building, a three-storied principal's quarter, 20 flats for teachers, a students hostel, an auditorium and some one-room quarters for bachelor teachers.
Among its alumni there are teachers, engineers, doctors, civil servants, army officials, artists, politicians and social workers. Sreekail College played a glorious role in the war of liberation.
