Jabbar, Sheikh Abdul (1881-1918) litterateur and social worker, was born in gaffargaon upazila, mymensingh. He was largely self-taught, except for a brief period at Syedgaon Madrasah in kishoreganj.

Abdul Jabbar wrote on Islamic history and culture. His book, Hazrater Jibani O Devi Rabeya, was included in the Intermediate syllabus of Calcutta University. Some of his other notable books are Makka Sharifer Itihas (1906), Madina Sharifer Itihas (1907), Islami Sabgit (1908), Adarsha Ramani (2 vols 1909, 1912), Jerusalem Ba Baitul Makaddaser Itihas (1910), Nabagatha (poetry, 1912) Nurjahan (1913). He wrote some textbooks such as Shishu Sopan, Sahitya Sopan, Adarsha Sahitya. He published a monthly magazine, Islam Abha. For some time he was an examiner of Bangla Language of Calcutta University.
